Wellness Assessment
If you had to define what mental wellness looks and feels like, how easy would it be? You might notice that it’s easier to identify symptoms of mental health difficulties, such as anxiety or depression, than it is to identify what it looks and feels like to be mentally well. And even when thinking of mental well-being, it can be difficult to have an objective measure of how well we are functioning in relation to what might be considered average or reasonable. If we compare mental health to physical health – do we have a good understanding of the difference between a mental health cold, flu, or pneumonia? And, taken further, do we know how to treat each type of mental health challenge?
This assessment tool is offered as a means to identify aspects of mental well-being that may go unnoticed, and that may reflect an overall state of health without focusing on specific symptoms. If most of your answers fall under the categories of ‘Some of the Time’, ‘Rarely’ and ‘None of the time’, this indicates that further assessment might be helpful to determine what is getting in the way of experiencing all categories of well-being.
